Announcement by Rt. Reverend Bishop Michael Lewis

The Right Reverend Bishop Michael Lewis (Bishop of Cyprus and the Gulf) is pleased to announce the appointment of Revd Dr. Ruwan Palapathwala as the Senior Chaplain of Dubai, Sharjah and the Northern Emirates. Revd Dr. Ruwan Palapathwala joins us from the Parish of St Alban, North Melbourne, Australia and Senior Chaplain of RMIT University, Melcourne.

Revd Dr. Ruwan Palapathwala an Australian passport holder is a native of Sri Lanka whose 19 years of ordained ministry have been in parishes in New Zealand and Australia.

In addition to his incumbency and Univeristy Chaplaincy he is research associate and lecturer in World religions and practical theology at Melbourne College of Divinity and Trinity College in the Univerisity of Melbourne. Amoung several major responsibilities in the wider Church, he is the Australian representative of the Anglician Church in NIFON, the Anglician Communion's Network for Intercultural and Interreligious Concerns.

His degrees include Master of Education and Master of Theology as well as Doctor of Philosophy. He will start his ministry in Dubai at the begenning of August.

Please pray for Ruwan, his wife Mary, and their children Ruwanmal and Eshara as they prepare for life in the U.A.E. Pray too for the people of Holy Trinity Dubai, St Matrin Sharjah, St Luke Ras Al Khaimah, Christ Church Jebel Ali and St Nicholas Fujairah as well as for the Council of the Chaplaincy.
